Summer Close and Heat Profile

What does it tell you

2 min read

The Summer Close analysis and the Heat Profle are strongly connected.

The Heat Profile tells you at what temperature the building starts to use energy to heat the building. And the heating points to the right of the “Heating starting point” are typically baseload consumption such as heating used for hot water.

The Summer Close Analysis uses the Heat Profile and the Heating Starting Point to tell you if energy is most likely being used to heat up the building. The Heat Profile is based on the historical correlation between the outdoor temperature and the building’s energy consumption for heating.

Thus, the Summer Close analysis is closely related to the Heat Profile. If there is a Summer Close potential, it indicates that the building is using heating for other things than hot water.

If the Heating Starting Point is 18 degrees, the building historically has not needed heating, when the average temperature outside is above 18 degrees and this is when the summer close period starts.

You can add the date you make the summer close and the day you open for heating again on the platform. By adding this information, the analysis uses it to tell you if it is properly shut down.

You add the information in the box beneath the graph

The summer close potential is based on an estimated consumption for baseload such as hot water, based on the Heat Profile. However, it is still a strong indicator, if the heating in the building has been shut off during the summer or at other times with a higher outdoor temperature than the heating starting point.
